#BeActive Nights

#BeActive nights are a Pan-European event to celebrate the European Week of Sport with night-time events running in parallel on 28th September 2019. The aim of these events are to provide opportunities to the general public to partake in a range of sporting activities and raise awareness about the European Week of Sport and the opportunities it creates to #BeActive.

Sport Ireland invited applications from the Local Sports Partnership (LSP) network to coordinate a #BeActive Night in their county. Check out what the following five counties who secured funding for their #BeActive Nights will be getting up to.

Co Cork

'Light up your Community' event will take place in 20 locations across Co Cork which will kick start a 4 - 6 week weekly community programme. Activities include Inclusive walking/swimming/cycling/running.

Galway

Linking with the Fierce as Female event taking place that day, a fun event including a 5K colour run along Salthill promenade. Events will include dance, rowing, running, obstacle courses, target games.

Laois

To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Riverdance Laois Sports Partnership will host the longest Riverdance in Laois by staging an event along the Grand Canal Bank. In addition, there will be a fun fair atmosphere in the village including Canoeing/Kayaking/Rounders/Cycling/Athletics/Wall Climbing.

Leitrim

Fun Sporting event working with the NGB's and Sporting Organisations to deliver Tennis, Boxing, Tag Rugby, Football, Gaelic Games, Gaelic4Mothers, Obstacle Courses and Go for Life games for older adults.

Co Wicklow

Bray Seafront to celebrate EcoTrail which is being hosted by Bray on the same day. It will be a celebration of physical activity in an eco-friendly manner. 'Leave no Trace' Orienteering with a Neon Orienteering course. Sunset Sail and Yoga at Dusk. Pedal Power Cinema to finish the celebrations.
