2019 Flagship Events

Sport Ireland will support a number of flagship events throughout the 2019 European Week of Sport:

SARI Soccerfest - Saturday 14th September, Phoenix Park.

Sport Against Racism Ireland (SARI) will host their annual Soccerfest which includes multisport activities

Family Sportfest - Sunday 22nd September, Sport Ireland Campus.

Family Sportfest will showcase a range of sports and activities in the National Indoor Arena.

Nationwide Family Mile - Sunday 22nd September, Nationwide

Athletics Ireland will deliver a Nationwide Family Mile alongside the revival of the Griffith Avenue Mile.

Women's Wellbeing Day - Tuesday 24th September, City Hall, Dublin.

Women’s Wellbeing Day being held as part of Dublin City Sport & Wellbeing Partnership’s Dublin Sportsfest running from 23rd-29th September

National Fitness Day - Thursday 26th September, Nationwide

Ireland Active will run National Fitness Day through their network of leisure centres and gyms.

European School Sports Day - Friday 27th September, Nationwide

Irish Primary PE Association will coordinate the European School Sports Day calling on all schools to dedicate 2 hours of their day to physical activity

Sports Ability Day - Saturday 28th September, Maynooth University

Kildare Sports Partnership will run a Sports Ability day showcasing sports which are available to people with disabilities. The event is open to everyone and will have demonstration and information stands with information for parents, teachers and anyone who’s interested in sport for all abilities.

#BeActive Nights - Saturday 28th September, Nationwide

Cork, Galway, Laois, Leitrim and Wicklow LSP will host #BeActive Nights as part of a European wide initiative with multi-sport participation events taking place across Europe on 28th September.

National Community Walking Day - Sunday 29th September, Nationwide

Get Ireland Walking will host a National Community Walking Day. Get Ireland Walking will also partner with Kildare, Laois & Carlow Local Sports Partnerships for The Barrow Way Challenge.

Great Dublin Bike Ride - Sunday 29th September 2019, Dublin

Cycling Ireland will host the Great Dublin Bike Ride. This is the flagship event for the European Week of Sport in Ireland.
