TRILOGY TRIATHLON
LAOIS
based in Laois, offers members of all levels training in each of swimming, cycling and running, and in competing in multisort (duathlon and triathlon) events. The club competes in 10-12 events during the season, together with organising a local series of test triathlons and test duathlons on a monthly basis from April to October.
The Winter Training schedule (which is currently in place until April) includes an evening 'Fartlek' run, which is divided in to ability groups, an indoor Spinning session, two coached swim sessions, an outdoor forest / trail run (up to 15k, but with short-cut options) and a choice of two paced Sunday cycling groups.
Our current schedule is as follows:
Monday - Evening Fartlek Run (8km slow-fast run in 4 groups according to ability)
Wednesday - Long Swim (continuous group swim for 30 mins - 3 paced groups)
Thursday - Indoor Spinning (high intensity cycle training in 20 person studio - 2 sessions)
Friday - "Skills 'n' Drills" (45 minute swim session focused on technique development)
Saturday - Long trail run (15km, with shortcuts) / 8km Hill run (alternate Saturdays)
Sunday - 2.5hr+ 30kmph pace cycle (10am) or 2hr 25kmph pace cycle (2pm)
With over 50 members, many of them new to the sport, no new member of Trilogy will need to worry about training alone. Our sessions can cater from complete beginners through to high performance. For meeting times and locations, why not get in touch with Karl on 086-2240115 or by e-mail karlmccann 'at' yahoo.com or visit the clubs website at http://trilogy.blogs.ie?
