The session is open to all athletes and coaches who have previous experience of the event or who would like to try the event for the first time.
The day will consist of a training session with Dave Sunderland UK Middle Distance Coach plus a discussion on training for the event.
Session begins at 12 noon and will conclude at 3PM.
Why not come along and find out more about the event you might have the hidden talent to become one of Irelands Top Steeplechasers.

Oct 7th 07 ATHLETICS IRELAND REGIONAL COACHING SQUADS The Athletics Ireland Regional Coaching Programme is entering one of its busiest periods between now and the end of the year. The Regional Coaching Programme is designed to identify talented young athletes throughout the country and help them develop to their full potential through the provision of coaching and education.
The Programme is organised on a regional basis. There are five regions, Munster, Connacht, Ulster, Leinster and Dublin. Each region has a head coach who is responsible for organising the coaching programme. The athletes in each of the Regional Squads are invited to Coaching Clinics where they receive coaching in their event, video analysis if required and a workshop in specific topic such as nutrition, mental preparation, lifestyle management, planning training and strength and conditioning. The clinics will also be visited by top athletes to share their experience with the young athletes. for more information go to

july 9th 07 THE SPAR MILE CHALLENGE... PBs FOR CLONLIFFE JUNIORS
The Spar Mile Challenge was a great success and in the Morton stadium there was also an excellent sub 5 minute race incorporating the Junior Mile Challenge, sponsored by Clonliffe Harriers. Results and Photos below

THE ATHLETIC ASOCIATION OF IRELAND HAS TEAMED UP WITH SPAR TO TEST THE FITNESS OF THE NATION
On the 7th July 2007, the Spar Mile Challenge will take place at 28 locations throughout Ireland. Challenge your friends and family. Challenge your work colleagues. Challenge yourself to complete the classic one mile distance. No experience required. This is a fun event, a challenge for all the community.
The Spar Mile Challenge offers you a unique opportunity to test your fitness and compare yourself with the nation. All the results will be published on the website and you will be able to compare your time with others in your age group, within your county or within your profession. There will be a new grading system arising from this event. The grades are based on the colours of the rainbow. All finishers will receive the appropriate colour award.
The date is the 25th anniversary of Ray Flynn’s Irish mile record of 3.49.77. Read about Ray and the other famous Irish Milers on the special event website (sparmilechallenge.com) The historic mile distance is made up of 1,609m, 1,760 yards or 4 laps of an athletics track.

The Mile Challenge will be held in 28 locations nationwide. There will be races every 10 minutes between 11a.m. and 3p.m. in each location. Races will be graded according to the categories above.
