THE FINN MC COOL 100.

The Finn MacCool 100 takes place on Sunday 2nd September 2007. The starting point is Belfast City Hall. Registration will be from 7.00am-8.00am on the Sunday, outside the front of the City Hall. There is no parking at the registration point, cars will need to be parked on surrounding streets (free).

Riders will ride in teams of 10, please state when you register whether you are riding as an individual or wish to part of a particular teamEach "team" will have a N.Irish sporting celebrity joining them. Here are some of the personalities involved.

Trevor Ringland

Belfast born Trevor was an Ireland International Rugby player 1981 – 1988. 34 caps and scored 9 tries.

Jimmy Kirkwood

Jim is an Olympic gold medallist having played hockey on the winning team in the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul.

Keith Crossan

Keith is another Belfast born ex-Ireland International Rugby player 1982 – 1992. As a winger he scored 12 tries during his 41 caps for Ireland.

Jackie McWilliams

Jackie is an Olympic bronze medallist, representing Ireland in hockey at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.

Nigel Carr

Nigel was capped 11 times playing flanker for Ireland 1985 – 1987.

David Irwin

David played rugby for Queens University Belfast, Instonians, Ireland, British & Irish Lions and is now a doctor for the Ulster Team.

David Kane

Dave won his first Irish jersey in 1958 and went on to represent Ireland a record 32 times. He held the record for the fastest time from Belfast to Dublin for 27 years and is the best Irish performance to date at the Commonwealth games in 1974 finishing 5th in the road race.

There are breaks throughout the bike ride with water, chocolate, fruit and energy bars provided for free. Lunch is also included at Cushendall Golf Club. From there the ascent is steep and a refreshing stop will be provided at the top of the hill!

First Aid cover and a support vehicle for the recovery of cycles and riders will be available.

The finish point is the University of Ulster Coleraine Sports Centre where physiotherapists will be on hand to sort out any aches and pains. Not that you will have these! From there your bikes will be bubble wrapped and labelled by you and loaded on to an HGV truck to be transported back to Belfast. You will then be transported to Portstewart Strand for a BBQ on the beach. (Weather permitting) after which coaches will be on hand to transport you back to Belfast.

When you register you will be asked about numbers for the BBQ, please be as accurate as you can, you can always email me with an update so we can ensure there is enough food for everyone! Registration costs £15 and each rider must pledge to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship &/or donations.
