Bejing Camp 22 Aug - 2nd Sept
Toni Rossiter and Alan Swanton, along with a team of 67 athletes and staff, attended the Paralympics Council of Ireland Familiarisation Camp in Beijing in preparation for Paralympic Games next year. Toni and Alan were part of the Sport Science and Medical team along with Bruce Wardrop, Dr. Joe Conway, Fintan O'Donnell and Brendan Kirrane.
The primary role of the team involved assessing how the athletes' acclimatised to the hot, humid and polluted conditions in Beijing. Their busy schedule included the provision of physiological support (daily testing and monitoring) and video analysis to the entire team which was made up of five sports - Athletics, Football, Equestrian, Boccia and Swimming.
