The Cork Sports Partnership in association with Coaching Ireland recently launched a new initiative for coaches which aimed to provide coaches/volunteers and leaders of underage sporting activities in Cork access to relevant, up to date and appropriate material, training and information.
Career Mentoring Scheme for Sport
The Irish Sports Council is launching a Career Mentoring Scheme for individuals in the Sports Sector. Applications to partake in the scheme from potential mentors & mentees must be made by following the instructions contained within the two following support documents:
Swim Ireland Internal Verifier post
Swim Ireland Internal Verifier Application Information
Swim Ireland is looking for Tutors/Assessors and Internal Verifiers that are interested in joining the Internal Verifier Team for the Swim Ireland Education Programme.
This role will play an integral part in the quality assurance process for Swim Ireland and will work closely with the Swim Ireland External Verifiers and Education Manager.
Adventure Sport Tutor Training 2011
The third Adventure Sport Tutor Training course began last weekend on the 15th and 16th of October at the University of Limerick. Nine tutors from three NGBs took part – Canoeing Ireland, Irish Sailing Association and Irish Surfing Association. These tutors will complete four weekends of tutor training with Coaching Ireland and then will go back to their NGBs to attend sport-specific training. On successful completion of the training, tutors will be deployed by their NGB to deliver instructor education courses.

Inaugural RIBSA Level 1 coaching course
The Inaugural Coaching Ireland & RIBSA Level 1 coaching course was held in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow on Saturday and Sunday the 1st and 2nd of October.
The coaching course was hailed a great success by Liam Moggan from Coaching Ireland.

Research Summary
The education and development of high performance coaches is an area receiving increased attention internationally. What about coaches currently working in the Irish setting? Below is a brief summary of two pieces of research conducted by Coaching Ireland and the Irish Institute of Sport which explore this area. The full research papers are due to appear in the Journal of Coaching Education (http://www.aahperd.org/naspe/publications/journals/jce/). Mountaineering Ireland Talent Development Officer
Mountaineering Ireland is the national governing body for mountaineering, hillwalking & climbing recognised by both the Irish Sports Council and Sport Northern Ireland. Mountaineering Ireland is seeking a suitably qualified and motivated person to fill the position of Talent Development Officer.
The person appointed will play a key role in the development and delivery of Mountaineering Ireland’s Talent Development Programme. This post is 100% funded by Sport Northern Ireland on an all-island basis.
