Rowing Ireland Pilot CDPI Level 2 Coach Education course.

Image from Level2 Rowing Ireland held the first weekend of a Pilot Level 2 CDPI coach education course at the National Rowing Centre in Farren Wood, Cork at the weekend 20-22 November.

The camp was planned to run in conjunction with an Irish training camp for rowers, but due to the weather the training camp was cancelled.

The Senior and Junior Irish squad did attend and were put through their paces on the ergs and bikes. The level 2 coaches had a very special weekend with inputs from the high performance coaches and rowers into the course.  The main CDPI tutors on the course were Pat McInerney and Mark Patterson, Support Tutors who provided inputs were Sarah Jane McDonnell (physio), Adrian Cassidy, Rob Baker, Derek Holland (Rowing Ireland National Coaches) and Martin McElroy Performance Director.  The course was observed by Catherine Bird Coaching Ireland.
Photos from the course show the National Coaches and Tutors engaging with the Level 2 Coaches as they complete coaching tasks with Rowers on erg. and in the classroom.

A further Level 2 weekend will be held in Pretora School, Enniskillen in January.

Follow up weekends for this course will be continued in the first quarter of 2010. Once the completed and agreed with coaching Ireland it is expected that the course will be rolled out towards the end of 2010
